Mini Company

Annie, Jr.
Mini Company: Grades K-5
Mondays; January 26-April 7
Full Session: 5:30-7:30 PM
Early Session: 5:30-7:00 PM

Redemption Hills Church

In 1930s New York City, it's a hard knock life for Annie and her friends at the orphanage run by cruel, conniving Miss Hannigan.  But when Annie is invited to spend the holidays at the mansion of billionaire Oliver Warbucks, both of their lives are about to change. While Annie is determined to find her real mother and father, she manages to win over the hearts of Oliver and his staff. With a Tony-award winning book, timeless songs, and plenty of featured roles perfect for younger performers, this beloved musical is sure to delight actors and audiences alike!

*All mini-company performers will be called to rehearsal from 5:30-7:00 PM. Families may choose a dismissal time of 7 PM, or cast members may stay until 7:30 for additional skill-building, enrichment, and performance material. Opting for early dismissal will not affect casting.

About

The Mainstage Musical is Stagebugz's big event of the season, where performers of all experience levels work to present a two-act, full-scale musical! Our Mini Company allows even the youngest students to be a part of the big show, with opportunities for each of them to shine and learn new skills! Mini Company actors get to shine on the mainstage with their very own songs and scenes and opportunities to play show-stealing characters. They will learn skills and techniques to carry with them in any future path they choose, all while making lifelong friends and participating in the magic of live theatre. The production ends with a full tech week, followed by a weekend of performances for family, friends, and fans!

Auditions and Casting

Auditions will be held workshop-style prior to the first day of class on Monday, January 19th. Performers will be scheduled in groups in 1-1.5 hour time slots, which will consist of icebreakers, games, singing and performing lines from the script, and learning a simple dance. Script material will be sent two weeks prior to auditions for those who would like to prepare in advance.

Every student is guaranteed a role with at least one line and one solo upon registering, and our small class sizes ensure that each performer receives ample stage time. Auditions are simply the only way to allow us to determine everyone's strengths so we make sure they get to show them off, and to help us find the place where each child will learn the most and have the best experience. Stagebugz auditions are a low-stress, low-pressure environment that we encourage participants to view as nothing more than an opportunity to do what they love: perform!

We do our best to find a role that each child will be excited about, but please remember that in Stagebugz shows, there truly are no small parts. Additionally, many factors go into casting a show, and not receiving their desired role is not a reflection of a child's level of talent.

Parent Volunteers

For this program, there is a minimum of two volunteer hours required for each registered performer. Volunteer hours may be completed by parents/guardians, family members, or friends. More information and sign-ups will be sent out after the start of rehearsals, but volunteers are primarily needed during tech week and the run of the show, and generally cover positions such as green room chaperones, costume/prop assistants, stagehands, ticket/concession sales, and ushers. There will be volunteer opportunities outside of this time frame, as well as positions that can be completed at home, for families who are unavailable.

Families who prefer not to complete volunteer hours may pay an opt-out fee of $40 per registered student.

*We do not want volunteer hours to be the reason any child cannot participate! If there are extenuating circumstances and no one is able to volunteer for your child and you are unable to pay the opt-out fee, please email stagebugztheatre@gmail.com.

*Please Note: Program dates, times, and location subject to change. Stagebugz Theatre can offer no refunds or transfers for drops, postponements, or other issues arising out of COVID-19 or any other unanticipated safety emergency.
