Actor's Company Blackbox Play:
Anne of
Green Gables

Suggested For: Ages 8-14

Saturdays, 9:00-10:30 AM

Colorado School of Acting - Lakewood

When the unexpecting town of Avonlea welcomes wildly independent red-head orphan Anne Shirley, her tendency for trouble shakes up their quiet, cozy lifestyle. But ultimately,  Anne wins over the town with her imagination and precocious charm. With a modernized script and rich characters for every performer, this production promises to warm the hearts and tickle the funny bones of loyal Anne of Green Gables fans and new audiences alike.

About

Stagebugz is thrilled to announce that our Spring Blackbox Production will be presented in collaboration with the Colorado School of Acting! As one of the country's only career-focused training programs for young performers, the Colorado School of Acting offers unparallelled resources for students of all experience levels to expand their acting toolbelts and explore personal interests and goals at their own pace, whether this is their first show or they have their sites set on Broadway! The Blackbox Company is an acting-focused program designed for older students to jump into advanced acting curriculum while diving deep into the full process of developing a production and working as an ensemble. Performers will get a taste of the rehearsal process of professional actors, while having tons of fun! Rehearsals will include games, bonding time, and technical work, leading up to a final blackbox-style public performance.

Performances are open to the public and tickets will be available to reserve closer to the show. Each student will receive two complimentary tickets; additional tickets are $7 ($5 for children and seniors).
Auditions and Casting
Registered performers will sign up for a 7-minute audition slot on Friday, January 24th, and should prepare a 60-90-second monologue in the style of the show. Auditionees may also be asked to read from the script. Students unavailable to attend should contact stagebugztheatre@gmail.com for information on how to submit a video audition.

We never want auditions to cause stress for any student. If your performer does not wish to audition, please email stagebugztheatre@gmail.com after registering and we will place them in a role that they will get to shine and grow in! Additionally, if your child needs help selecting or preparing material,  contact us or check out our AUDITION GUIDE. We are here to make the process as stress-free as possible and are more than happy to help!

Every student is guaranteed a featured role upon registering, and performers in the blackbox company all receive relatively equal stage time. Auditions simply help us to determine where everyone will learn the most and have the best experience. We do our best to find a role that each child will be excited about, but please remember that in Stagebugz shows, there truly are no small parts.  Additionally, many factors go into casting a show, and not receiving their desired role is not a reflection of a child's level of talent.
*Please Note: Program dates, times, and location subject to change.  Stagebugz Theatre can offer no refunds or transfers for drops, postponements, or other issues arising out of COVID-19 or any other unanticipated safety emergency.
