Alice's Adventures In Wonderland

Blackbox Play

Grades 5-10

Colorado School of Acting Lakewood

Mondays, 5-7 p.m.; August 18-October 20

After accidentally falling down a rabbit hole, the curious Alice finds herself in Wonderland, a strange place full of even stranger characters. She magically changes size, joins the Mad Hatter and March Hare for a nonsensical tea party, and encounters a host of bizarre talking animals. When she upsets the evil Queen of Hearts, her new friends must figure out how to help her escape Wonderland before the Queen enacts revenge.

About

For the second season, our Blackbox Production will be presented in collaboration with the Colorado School of Acting! The Blackbox Company is an acting-focused program designed for students of all experience levels to expand their acting toolbelts and explore personal interests and goals at their own pace. Rehearsals will dive into more advanced curriculum while allowing performers to take part in the production process and develop a true ensemble.  Class time will also include games, team-building, and individual coaching, all leading up to the final blackbox-style public performances!

Please note, Alice's Adventures In Wonderland is a straight play and will not include singing or dancing.

*Please note that Alice's Adventures In Wonderland is a Blackbox production, which means there will be simple sets, costumes, props, and lighting. This class will be heavily focused on acting theory, rehearsal process, and performance skills, rather than production value or spectacle.

A non-refundable deposit of $145 will be due at the time of registration. Families may choose to pay in full, or may pay only the deposit when registering. The remaining tuition amount will be due on Friday, August 15th. Failure to pay remaining tuition before the deadline will result in the forfeit of your student's spot with no refund of the deposit.

The $145 deposit is non-refundable and non-transferable after registering. No refunds of any amount will be issued after August 15th.

A minimum of 2 volunteer hours will be required on behalf of each student. These can be fulfilled by a parent, sibling, friend, or the performer (if they are 12+). You may choose to opt out of the volunteer requirement for a $40 fee.

Performances
Final performances will be held on Saturday, October 25th at 2 PM and 6 PM at the Colorado School of Acting in Lakewood (the same location as rehearsals). Performances are open to the public and tickets will be available to reserve closer to the show. Each student will receive two complimentary tickets; additional tickets are $7 ($5 for children and seniors).
Auditions and Casting
Registered performers will sign up for a 7-minute audition slot on Friday, August 15, and should prepare a 60-90-second monologue that best shows off their abilities. Auditionees may be asked to try their monologue again with notes, or to read from the script. Students unavailable to attend should contact stagebugztheatre@gmail.com for information on how to submit a video audition.

Performers may select any material they'd like; please check out our AUDITION GUIDE
for suggestions and advice!

We never want auditions to cause stress for any student. If your performer does not wish to audition, please email stagebugztheatre@gmail.com after registering to discuss alternative options! Additionally, if your child has questions or needs help preparing for auditions, please reach out.
We are here to make the process as stress-free as possible and are more than happy to help!

Every student is guaranteed a large role upon registering, and performers in the Blackbox Company all have relatively equal stage time. Auditions simply help us to determine where everyone will learn the most and have the best experience. We do our best to find a role that each performer will be excited about, but please remember that Stagebugz shows are ensemble productions, and every role is equally important.  Additionally, many factors go into casting a show, and not receiving their desired role is not a reflection of a child's level of talent.
*Please Note: Program dates, times, and location subject to change.  Stagebugz Theatre can offer no refunds or transfers for drops, postponements, or other issues arising out of COVID-19 or any other unanticipated safety emergency.
